Golden Retriever Rescue of Central PA,
Inc. is rarely without homeless Golden Retrievers who desperately
want their "forever homes." Even if there are no photos
on this page, we most likely have several in foster care at any
given time. However, we only post photos of those Goldens for whom
we do not have an approved applicant. We think it is misleading to
post photos of those Goldens for whom we already have a new home
just waiting for them. Sometimes there is a bit of lag time until
a photo is removed from the site after a match is made, but we do
not post photos of already adopted dogs. We must have your
application in hand and have approved it before we match you with
a homeless Golden. You can print out the application from
elsewhere on this site. Please complete it and send it and the
non-refundable application fee to the P.O. box that is listed on
top of the first page of the application.

JONIE - This cute lady is said to be around 7-years-old, however she acts MUCH younger. Jonie was used as a breeder dog at a puppy mill and has spent her entire life living outside in a wire cage and having puppies. Jonie is now learning how wonderful it is to live inside as part of a family and she loves it! She does great with her three foster dog brothers and the cats in the home. Jonie absolutely loves nylabones and goes throughout the house collecting them and spends hours happily chewing. She also likes to collect socks, shoes and
t-shirts and then tries to hide them in her kennel. Jonie is a shy dog around new people and usually extremely shy around men. However, once she warms up and begins to trust you Jonie is a completely different dog! After being in her foster home for only a few days her foster family could hardly believe her progress and nicknamed Jonie "goofball" due to her silly antics. Jonie does have separation anxiety (i.e.,barks in crate when left alone), which is understandable given her history and is fairly typical with rescue dogs. Jonie is working hard with her foster mom on this issue and has started some medication to help with the process. Jonie is a complete velcro dog in the house, however this appears to be mostly due to her insecurity about being left alone. Jonie is up-to-date on vaccinations and has been spayed. Jonie has told her foster mom that her dream home would have the following: No small children, a fenced in yard, an airline type of crate for her to sleep in and a very patient family that will show her the love and care that she's missed out on for so many years!
