This is GRRCP's FUN PAGE!

Cute and fun pictures and stories of some of our rescues in their new homes!

GRRCP has a gorgeous new banner thanks to the hard work of volunteer Dan Duratchko. We unveiled the vinyl banner at the Pawsability event at the Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA in mid-March. Thanks Dan for giving us such a great look!

Sunday of Pawsability brought a special visitor to the GRRCP booth to shop for bandannas. Annie, a GRRCP rescue (Golden Retriever/black lab mix) lives in a loving home with her family that includes her great Dalmatian brother, Jakob. Annie was adopted in January 2002 and was about 3 months old at the time. Here she poses in her Patriotic colors.

GRRCP Wins Division First Place at Festival of Trees!

Golden Retriever Rescue of Central PA, Inc. participated in this year's Festival of Trees at Penn State University, which was a new venue for us. The annual community event raised money for the local YMCA. There were 100 trees in five divisions and we were part of the community division -- which we won based on the amount of money in the jar placed by the tree. All funds donated in the voting for "favorite" tree also were given to the YMCA. The
project was chaired by Celeste Parker and committee members were Kim Nelson, Em Nelson, Shelly Mannino and Kim Bierly. Decorating was done by the latter three individuals -- who have agreed that next year they need a tall person to help put that tree topper in place!

These photos show closeups of the gold star ornaments made by Celeste, who also made dog biscuits into ornaments to keep with our theme. Each star ornament had a photo in the middle of one of our rescue dogs. The handmade fuzzy Golden Retriever ornaments were a hit as usual. Kim and Em work hard on them each year and this year they outdid themselves! We even got several e-mails from people who wanted to buy some. The tree also was adorned with tiny white lights, several sizes of gold balls, translucent gold ribbon tied on the end of the tree branches, a chenille Christmas tree skirt, and a gold and white star tree topper. No tree would be complete without its own Golden Retriever mom and her pups laying on a plaid dog bed underneath the tree. The decorating photo shows Shelly Mannino reaching to put an ornament near the top while Em Nelson holds the ladder for her. The groups is already planning its encore performance for 2003!

This is Nate, Jasmine and Bentley all gathered for playtime on Sunday morning. Nate is a rescue Golden adopted from Golden Retriever Rescue of Central PA, Inc. in June, 2002. He is not yet a year old and as you can see from this photo is going to be a big boy. Bentley is his golden brother and Jasmine is their friend who comes to play and swim.
Nate ready to go swimming in his new life jacket!

live rabbit) Henry relax in their Michigan apartment.

Aaahhhh...the cool stream on a hot July afternoon. Hi! I am Reggie (formerly
known as Regis). I was heartworm positive when I came into rescue in late
April but am now doing well and am in my forever home with a loving mom and
dad. Today dad took me to a bicycle race (he wanted to show me off!) and
then to this wonderful cool stream. I can't believe how lucky I am. I lived
tied to a tree for the first 3 years of my life. I was tied near a stream
but my chain was so short I never was able to cool off in the water...and
often didn't have water to drink or food to eat. I am one lucky Golden. So
is my buddy Sheila who had the same health issues as me. She soon will find
her loving forever home, too.
